For the eleventh time in the last twelve years, NJIT has taken First Place in the prestigious ASME Student Sections Committee Contest.

The New Jersey Chapter of the Society of Material handling gave NJIT last night $3000 to fund students studying materials handling or management. NJIT students who study this discipline are enrolled in the industrial engineering discipline offered by Newark College of Engineering.

NJIT is Awarded the ASME Clarke Scholarship

NJIT is one of only five recipients nationally of the ASME Clarke Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen, based on the activities of its ASME student section. The scholarship will have a tremendous impact on the fall 2008 class, in Mechanical Engineering. Scholarship recipients are the future of Mechanical Engineering and are committed to making lasting contributions. When Matthew Schaefer was a freshman, he set himself a lofty goal. In four years, he’d graduate from NJIT with a perfect grade-point average -- a 4.0. He is a scholar in the Albert Dorman Honors College. Now, as graduation nears, Matthew’s GPA is 3.987. He missed his mark by a hair, but by setting himself such a high standard, he managed to win two of the university’s top awards. He was recently named the Mechanical Engineering Department’s Outstanding Senior as well as the Newark College of Engineering’s (NCE) Outstanding Senior

Erika Taugher is a star soccer player at NJIT. After playing for just two years, she is poised to become the university’s all-time leading scorer. She’s also a stellar student. In her major, mechanical engineering, she has a near perfect grade-point average of 3.7.
